Before I go into the recipe, I will like to say a Huge Thank you:

The last post I did was in February 2020 on the website. It was a difficult time starting in March. Getting used to the panic and new COVID lifestyle was difficult.

I was not able to get ingredients or supplies which could help me post content or new recipes. I stopped working on the website.

But your love of the recipes and the content kept growing. Despite no new material, I received a lot of love from you all.

Thank you all for the trust that you have shown in my work. Being in the 6th year, I hope and plan to continue it further.

Let’s talk about Pineapple Mint Lemonade:

My childhood memories inspired my recipe for Pineapple Mint Lemonade. We had fresh fruit juice centers around the city.

During my college campus days, when it got too hot, we used to go to these juice centers for fresh fruit juice. It used to be a good break from covering the reports and assignments.

One of the ingredients which they usually used in these fresh fruit juices was Black Salt and Roasted Cumin Powder.

I have added these to today’s recipe and given it an Indian twist to it.

Black salt and roasted cumin seeds are two ingredients that gave the juice it’s peculiar flavor.

What is Black Salt?

Now you may ask, what is Black salt?

Himalayan salt is heated along with Harad seeds and other Indian spices, seeds, and herbs. The heating process gives it a darkened hue, which is why it’s known as black salt.

But its actual appearance can range from a brown pink to purple, usually with a light pink hue when ground.

The primary flavor of black salt is savory, and the aroma of the Harad seeds is sulphury. The sulphur gives it an umami-like flavor.

Black salt is often used in traditional savory Indian recipes, including salads, chutneys, and raitas.

Many dishes that call for black salt would not be the same without it, so if you skip this vital ingredient- you are missing out on one primary umami flavor.

You can get Black Salt easily at the local Indian grocery store or Amazon. It can be named Kala Namak, Indian Black Salt, or Himalayan Black Salt.

Enough about Black Salt, let’s talk about the ingredients for making Pineapple Mint Lemonade.

Ingredients for making Pineapple Mint Lemonade:

The base of this delicious drink is Pineapple juice. I have layered it with some mint leaves.

To balance the sweetness of pineapple juice, I have added lemon juice to it.

The primary flavors that pop here are of the Black salt and roasted cumin seeds powder.

I have added a minimal amount of black salt to the recipe. For people who are new to the ingredient, it can take some time to get used to it.

But hey, what’s the point in living when you haven’t tried something new, isn’t it?

To sweeten the drink, you can add honey, agave nectar, sugar syrup, or plain sugar.

I have used plain white sugar in this recipe.

I always want my daughter to get used to new flavors and experiences through food and drinks. And to my surprise, she has adapted this lifestyle quite well.

The flavors in this drink are a little unusual for kids and grown-ups. But giving it a try is not at all a bad idea.

Pineapple Mint Lemonade is great for kids above two years of age, only if they are not prone to rashes. Pineapple and lemon both can cause a rash in younger infants.

Pineapples are an excellent source of vitamin C and manganese. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and they protect the immune system too.
