The holiday season is here, and so is the need for delicious holiday recipes. Check out the recipe for Autumn Winter Salad for your next holiday gathering.
Hello everyone. It’s almost Thanksgiving, and we are all in a rush and on the lookout for the last-minute recipes. Don’t worry; I have you covered.
Sometimes things don’t go according to plan, and we need those last-minute recipes to keep the festivities going.
Today’s recipe is all about the autumn season and flavors which are perfect for this holiday season. Let’s dig in.
Before we go ahead with the recipe, I would like to talk about my absence from Easy Baby Meals. My last post was published on 29th August 2021.
Well, things had been a little crazy regarding the website. It all started with buttons and applications not working on the website. With no help from the previous hosting company, it was time for me to cut ties with them.
I finally switched to a new hosting company first time since I started my blog eight years ago. It was a scary but necessary move.
Finally, after two months, I can now see my food blog back to itself. (myself included)
With that said, let talk about today’s recipe for Autumn Winter Salad.
Inspiration for Autumn Winter Salad:
I am a big fan of fresh fruits in my diet, and so is my eight-year-old. She will eat her salads more than anything cooked.
We love the salad from Zupas- Nuts About Berries. It is one of the fantastic salads I have come across. Its freshness and flavors are enticing and comforting at the same time.
I wanted to add those flavors and freshness to my salad recipe, along with the seasonal produce and fruits.
What turned out was a refreshing salad for this holiday season.
What goes in the salad:
The most straightforward answer- any salad greens and seasonal fruits.
In this recipe, I have used the following:
Salad Greens– Mesclun
It is so common and is available in most of the premixed salad bags and boxes in the grocery store.
In-season fruits– Pomegranate, apple, pear, and blueberries.
Nuts– Candied pecans.
Salad Dressing– Store-bought poppyseed dressing. (It is sweet and yum)
Poppyseed dressing complements the greens, fruits, and nuts so well. When they all come together in a bite, it is full of bursts of flavors.
How to make Autumn Winter Salad?
It is quick and straightforward to make. Autumn Winter Salad is a last moment preparation salad. It needs to be served immediately once the poppyseed dressing is added.
Start with adding salad greens in the salad bowl, along with pomegranate seeds, blueberries, and cinnamon pecans. Next, add sliced apple and pear pieces.
In the last step, add the poppyseed dressing all over the salad and mix everything well. And serve immediately.
Are there variations in the salad?
Yes, of course. You can customize it to your liking and whatever is available to you.
Salad Greens- You can use any salad greens that you can find in the store.
Fruits- Any seasonal fruits will do. But I will insist that you add pomegranate seeds. It just adds a slight red color and glamor to the recipe. Also, you can use other berries as well.
Nuts- You can substitute candied pecan with walnuts or regular pecans too. If nut allergies are involved, you can skip the nuts in the salad.
Salad Dressing- Poppyseed dressing is on the sweeter side, which complements other ingredients on the salad. You can try any different sweet version of salad dressing if you want to.
