Good morning everyone. I hope, all of you are having a good week so far. My side the usual routine. Sometimes, the routine gets quite monotonous. Those are times when I try to draw or sketch. But since last few months, I haven’t  been able to do any of those. Hopefully will do some in the coming weeks. If I do some sketching or drawing, will share with you all for sure.

Anyways, have you ever thought of giving Turnips to your baby? I never thought about it. It so happened, that I had bought few turnips for a soup recipe.

I was bored of giving my daughter the usual vegetables and fruits. So I thought of trying something new for her. I did some reading here and there, and it turned out that turnips are totally safe for babies. I never knew that.

Turnips are usually introduced to babies after 8 months since it can cause gas to younger ones. They have a good amount of vitamin C, vitamin K, minerals and dietary fiber. Turnips also have folate, potassium, and calcium.

Babies who are prone to allergies or digestive issues might want to skip turnips at this age as they might cause an allergic reaction and gassiness or bloating as well.

While choosing turnips for baby food, look for ones which are small in size, as they have a mild flavor and sweeter than the larger ones.

In the following recipe, I have mixed turnip with sweet potatoes and yams. Since all these root vegetables are on the sweeter side, I have added a little cinnamon powder to it, for an extra burst of flavor.

Thank you Amy, just trying my best to introduce her to various vegetables and fruits. Initially, even I never thought about giving her turnips. But they turned out to be really great and she loved it.

I wish I’d had your site as a resource with my babies! I hadn’t thought of using turnips with sweet potatoes, but I bet it has a nice flavor. Great idea!
