I will start with sharing my recipe for Homemade Vegetable Broth. It’s easy to make and store. You can freeze it and use it in any of your recipes. This is one my favourite to use in pilaf recipes as well. For babies 6 months and above, you can mix this broth with mashed vegetable or rice and turn it into a meal.
I have used sweet potatoes, apple, and celery as a base for my soup. To give it a fall flavour, I have seasoned it with the cinnamon stick and pumpkin spice. I like to add some walnuts to my serving. A little crunch gives this soup a delicious texture.
I have used rosemary and cumin to give this soup a delicious warm aroma. To make it a hearty soup and more tempting for little ones, I have added orzo pasta. You can use, any shape or colour pasta that your little ones like, for this soup.Kids Friendly Soups For Fall-Winter. #soups #recipes Click To Tweet
I have used potatoes and vegetable broth as a base for the soup. Potatoes give this soup a thick texture as well as acts as a thickening agent. So, there is no need to add any flour or other substitutes. For aromatics, I have used fennel seeds and bay leaf and flavoured the soup with garlic and spring onions. I have especially, used spring onions here instead of onions. Spring onions give this soup a mild onion flavour which is not too overpowering. Particularly keeping in mind the palates of baby tummies.
This is one of the most viewed recipes at Easy Baby Meals. And yes, it is a comfort food for little ones as well as grown-ups. I have made a soup with carrot, potatoes, and celery, and to give a flavour have added bay leaf, cumin, and oregano. This soup is a meal in itself but can be accompanied by other foods.
Now, who doesn’t like a good bowlful of tomato soup? And when it’s flavoured with aromatics like cumin and basil leaves. It turns into a soul food experience. I have roasted tomatoes with garlic and basil and then turned them into a smooth paste. Later I have added some heavy cream to give it a nice creamy texture and to tone down the tomato’s sour flavour. The flavorful aroma of this soup comes from the cumin seeds and basil.
This mildly flavoured sweet corn soup is a meal in itself. Corn as such doesn’t have many nutrients in it. But when paired with other vegetables, it becomes a hearty meal for little ones. The soup can be served with garlic bread to the entire family. This thick soup is a quick comfort food for the cold days ahead.
