Today EasyBabyMeals is celebrating it’s ‘1st Birthday’. I am so happy for where EasyBabyMeals stands today. I thank each one of you, for trusting and being with us through this startup year. With 80 published posts of recipes and information, we have come a long way and yet to go further ahead.

On this celebration day, I am sharing something sweet for babies 8 months and older. I have cooked bananas and dates together. And added some vanilla essence and cardamom powder to give it a wonderful aroma and flavor.

Bananas and Dates Halwa is a nutritious sweet meal for your baby. It has absolutely no added sugar. The caramelized sugar of bananas gives it an intensely sweet flavor. It can be added to baby cereals if needed to reduce the sweetness. This recipe is kind of a desert for both babies and adults.

Bananas are one of the best starter food for babies. They can be introduced as early as 6 months.

Babies love them due to sweet taste which intensifies as the banana matures. Ripe bananas have pectin, a soluble fiber which helps relieve constipation.

Banana is a good source of biotin, vitamin B6, vitamin C, manganese, copper, iron, and fiber. They are an excellent source of the electrolyte potassium, which helps in regulating blood chemistry and is also used by muscles. They are great for bones and teeth as well, due to the calcium present in them.

While shopping for bananas picks those which look firm but not too hard. They should have their stems attached and free from any bruises. Banana can ripe at room temperature. To hasten the ripening process, place them in a paper bag or wrap them in a newspaper.

Ripe bananas can be refrigerated. Even though the skin might turn black, but it won’t affect its taste or nutritional value. I usually freeze ripe bananas and use them in smoothies. Do not refrigerate unripe bananas, since they won’t ripen even if taken out of the cold temperature.

When making this recipe, cook it fresh and do not store. It will lose its flavor quite fast. For older kids and adults, add some almonds, cashews nuts, and walnuts while cooking dates. This can be a good warm topping for ice creams for the summer time. Just before serving, layer the ice-cream with this banana puree and sprinkle it with some nuts.

Before signing off today, I would like to thank once again to each and every one of you for the warmth and support you all have shown towards EasyBabyMeals. Without you all, it wouldn’t have been possible.

I had babies before mainstream parenting went (back) to making their own food. What my sister and cousins manage to get done amaze me. I must say it is all so much healthier and good for our kiddos, though.
