Hello, everyone. It has been a crazy week so far for me, and thankfully it’s about to get over (TGIF). I had mentioned about my daughter’s tummy problem sometime back and had posted few finger food ideas to include more fiber in your toddler’s diet.

On those same lines, today I am sharing this recipe which includes just two main ingredients. But the taste and aroma are so good, that your little one will love it.

I have cooked apple and dried figs together and added a bit of cinnamon powder for an extra burst of flavor. The natural sugars released from Apple and figs give this recipe a yummy sweet taste. This makes it more appetizing for babies.

Apple With Dried Figs is one of my go-to recipes when my daughter suffers from constipation. Even I love having this puree with a scoop of ice cream.

Dried figs are a good source of fiber. They are packed with potassium, iron, and minerals, along with vitamins and antioxidants. Figs have been cultivated since ages in warm and semi-arid climates which is similar to the environment in which dates grow.

Some of the varieties of figs available in the market are the Black Mission, Kadota, Calimyrna and Brown turkey. I personally prefer dried black mission figs for baby food, as they are sweeter and gives baby purees a sweet earthy taste.

While shopping for dried figs, pick packets which are unbroken. Look for any mold or sour smell. Commercially grown figs at times can be treated with sulfites to extend their shelf life.

To avoid babies and toddlers getting sulfites in their system, it’s better to go for Organic Dried Figs.

Awww, thats is so sweet. I used to have lot of dried figs during pregnancy. They took care of my sweet tooth. Have this puree with vanilla ice cream. For constipation in little babies, it does help. Even if they aren’t constipated, this can be a good baby meal..!!

I remember when my kids were little, I made all their baby food, many friends thought I was nuts, but if you taste the stuff that comes in a jar you’ll understand why your baby makes such faces!!!

When they were toddlers they ate variations on whatever I was eating, but this looks like it would be pretty good even for an adult!
